The Sugars are Matt Bolton (vox/guitar), Alex Lewis (drums) and Anna Greenway (vox/bass guitar). They’ve been busy recording their new album and touring the UK, but they finally return with dazzling single ‘Black Friday’ on 16th June, to be followed by debut album ‘The Curse Of The Sugars’ on 7th July.

From its machine-gun intro and tubular chimes it’s clear that Black Friday is no retro swing. Inspired by live performances from !!! and their own experiences on the road, ‘Black Friday’ is a dance record on The Sugars’ own terms. A pounding, energetic, relentless tale of quarrelling indecision, driven by a hypnotic bassline and metronomic kick-drum. Produced by Will Jackson of The Cribs & Pigeon Detectives fame, the trio have found the producer to make their records sound just as dark and thrilling as their live shows. Expect ‘The Curse of The Sugars’ to be a brilliantly diverse collection, from wicked murder ballads to punk rock blues, via mariachi infused Latin, dramatic guitars and sleazy duets. Relentless touring with The Von Bondies, Nine Black Alps and Richard Hawley over the past year has enabled them to hone their live show completely. Now masters of their stage they are half way through a long headline tour throughout the UK and have more dates to be announced in the UK and London very soon.
